So davis making that Xcom thread gave this idea. I just finally got some money thanks to unemployment (after almost three months of bullshit from them) and I went ahead and purchased the dlc for state of decay called lifeline. It's about a military group designated greyhound at outpost "black friday" and I thought I would leave a record of each days actions. This first post is mainly a beginner thing for the simulation (as the creaters call it).
The game has some back logs so I will put up the ones before the first day'day's actions as well.
(Logs of commanding officer Alicia Hawkes, aka "Hawkes".)
4/1/2015 at 8:30 pm local time.
"All personel ordered to return to base. Whatever this is, it's hit most of North America in no time at all.
What kind of plague does that?"
4/5/2015 at 6:30 am local time.
"I keep hearing that Air Force One went down last night, but Colonel Peel won't confirm or deny.
The men keep asking me who's is charge, and I'm running out of good answers."
4/7/2015 at 9:00 pm local time
"Colonel Peel just chewed me out regarding discipline.
Tried to ask what the men are supposed to do with no assignment and no contact with family, but as usual he just screamed at me."
4/8/2015 at 11:30 pm local time
"Technically speaking, I'm still leading a company--callsign: Greyhoud-- but with casualties and desertions it's barely above platoon strength."
4/9/2015 at 4:00 pm local time
"Peel's ordered us into Danforth tomorrow to exfil some VIP.
I'm looking forward to bwing useful again rather than just getting yelled at by the colonel."
I will post an after action report of the current morning's missions, have to end it here. Just got orders to rescue a high value individual. More to come.

Alright, now that I have a minute, I can post up Greayhound's first two missions.
(These are my words, and none of the characters in game.)
It's 4/10/2015, just for the record.
Greyhound entered the city in two elements. Greyhound 2 was tasked with securing an area as an outpost for evac. Greyhound 1 (lead by "Hawkes"(my starting character)) had to abandon their vehicle upon reaching a large barricade of vehicles, so we had to proceed on foot. That's when we came in contact with a large hoard of zeds (shot for zombies). Hawkes, Kilohana "Kilo" Young, and Royell "Vince" Vincent were the three in Greyhound 1. We managed to fight off the hoard, and secure a vehicle.
That's where we got some bad news. Greyhoud 2 was almost done setting up the perimeter, when they came under siege at the landing zone. So we had to haul ass to the lz and back them up, diverting from our original op to rescue the VIP, a one Dr. Thomas Horn. Command said he was the key to all this, and to a cure.
Once we reached the outpost, we saw how bad it was. Greyhound 2, consisting of Aimee Karlsen, Alyssa Snyder, and one other (unknown KIA after), were under heavier siege than we thought. The gates to the outpost were busted down by the hordes of zombies gushing in. We got into a firefight as we began to cut down as many zeds as possible, before they came in so close we had to break out steel batons and fight them off by hand!
Finally after what seemed like half an hour, but was really more like ten minutes, the lz was secured. Karlsen reported they had one KIA and that comes went down after the call went out.
With the outpost secured, I had Karlsen and Snyder begin setting up facilities, while the rest of us resumed our rescue op. Command radioed to us that the last known location of Dr. Horn was a crashed helicopter about one kilometer southeast of our outpost. Greyhound investigated the crash, but only found dead, and undead, soldiers. We comenced searching the surrounding buildings, where we found the Dr. He was injured, so we hauled ass back to the lz.
That's when the Dr. told us he was infected and dying. Before we knew it, he pulled out a pistol and proceeded to paint the air with red mist. He blew his own brains out!
With the new reaching command, they found out about Dr. Horn's ex wife, Dr. Julene Horn, and ordered us to rescue her. Upon finding her on the highway, we diverted to her house to pick up her late ex husband's notes. There, we discovered her house was infested, and cleared it out. There was two zombies their that stuck out. They had no arms, and didn't attack us, but when we got close, they screamed and it was high pitched, almost deafening! That attracted a few more zeds, but we finally cleared the house and got the Dr. and the notes back to the lz.
En-route back, we got the call of another siege. This time, we were prepared. We had on-call artillery and airstrikes for the zeds. They did however still breach the gates, with one that was crawling quickly! We are designatin these as "ferals" (game designation, but let's have some fun with it).
Once we fought off this second siege, we had the good doctor airlifted out with the notes. He friend, a reservist named Andrea Quint, was along with the doctor when we found her, but she's elected to volunteer for our unit, and she had stayed.
In between these two missions, I and Snyder backed up Kilo in a supply run, and also found two soldiers who were holding up in a warehouse, Conner Guerra and Ashley Esparza. They too joined our unit.
Now we are getting radio reports from a civilian named Vienna Cho, who is relaying refugees' positions in the city outskirts. The city itself is lost. It's overrunning with zeds, so we aren't heading in there yet. Not until we absolutely need to.
For now, we are making supply runs and fortifying our position at outpost "Black Friday", as C.O. Hawkes has designated it. Command is supplying us with whatever we need, when they can spare it, and we are manning the perimeter night and day, waiting for when these zeds strike next.
This conclude my report at 4:51 am local time. I will post further mission updates as they become available.
Also, I will try to get photos up to go with these reports, as soon as I figure out how to from my phone or elsehow.

Okay, so the shit really did hit the fan, harder than it has already. Dogpound, the base that was support us and where colonel peel was at, was over runned by zeds at 5:23 this morning. We found out from an evac bird that came to take out some refugees that we rescued.
Well this was after a second siege. We took a total of five sieges today so far. Each one was because the evac birds drawed the zeds in with how loud they were. We survived all five and got the VIP out each time, but not without some losses. We lost Connor Guerra during the fourth siege. We had a large zed bust down the east gates, and Hawkes ran out of ammo. Before she could get to Guerra, the large zed grabbed him, bit into him, and then ripped his lower body away from his torso, tearing him at the stomach. He went out screaming.
We rescued two more doctors. One was a former associate of Dr. Horn who knew of his research, and the other was a biomedical expert who was trapped at a former shelter about 1.5 kilometers from our outpost. We got them both out, along with a total of four refugees today.
Now we did have a supply problem at first. With Dogpound gone, we no longer had coms. So we scrounged up some equipment and upgraded our coms tent to have satellite communications. We got in touch with Roadside, an outpost under the command of Brigadier General Henry Connors. He informed us that they would be helping to resupply us as much as they could. We also started re-establishing outpost that were over runned for addition support, including two sat-com relays. We now also have PMC support (mercs) who will help us when we call on them to.
Also, we rescued a special forces operator named "Sasquatch". He is an asshole though. Doesn't get along well with anyone, and has his own mission of collecting samples of the special kind of zeds.
The outpost however is coming along good at this point. We have coms, a mess hall, barracks, ops center, a solar array for power, the lz, and even a latrine.
Last thing I did before logging off was order a large resupply of food, meds, ammo, and even firepower from Dogpound, so the base is going to be set on supplies. We also rigged up some mines, fireworks on propape tanks, and smaller propane tanks, to keep the zeds at bay at the perimeter.
So now we are waiting to see what happens next, and try to predict it so we don't lose anyone else. Mission report ending at 8:00 am local time.

So the tenth if April was a hard day for greyhound. We lost another member and two scientist in rescue efforts. We lost Kilo, and he had a wife and two kids...
So, the first was a doctor who had tissue samples of the undead as they were freshly reanimated. He died in his clinic because we had several hordes ambush us. Kilo and Vince were on that op. Kilo didn't make it, and neither did the doctor. Vince barely made it out himself. He did recover the tissue samples and some meds from the clinic.
Then Hawkes tried to rescue some paper pusher who had records on the work Horn's team was in the middle of. The woman there was killed and Hawkes almost got trapped. We got the paper work though. We did rescue three refugees though thankfully.
We also found a soldier hiding near our artillery outpost while Vince and Aimee were out on a scouting run. The man's name is Owen something. Unable to remember at the moment and my Xbox is being used for netflix.
The soldier was on his own, but he joined up with us willing and eagerly. Something tells me the squad gunner was getting lonely. He was a great asset, as his first siege with ua, he single handedly held the east perimeter with his M60E4 LMG. Even when the zeds breached the gate on the north side, Owen kept laying down the hate and discontent that all of Greyhound was feeling on the enemy. This soldier even took on a juggernaut (this is what we are naming the big ones) in hand-to-hand when he ran out of ammo, and beat it!
So needless to say, this soldier has raised the morale of the entire base.
We are planning on testing this refound morale on the zeds by getting a sample of one of these juggernauts. Sasquatch says the agency he works for wants a fresh sample from one of these.
So everyone, wish us in Greyhound good luck, because we will need it taking one of these down in hand to hand again, without sheer luck.
Mission end time is 9:00 pm local time.
Edit: I forgot to mention we did rescue some college kid, who's father was vital to the effort to keep bases and camps stock with perishables. We did get him on an evac bird.

Well davis, he is a valuable member of the team. Right now though everyone is having to sleep in shifts. We only have 8 beds and there is 9 people, but we always have to man the fences. Lol.
Also, this is more difficult of a game as far as keeping members alive. We never go out alone unless we ABSOLUTELY have to, and even then we have to be cautious when outside the base.

So the past 24 hours have been rough on Greyhound. We lost Owen when we went after the samples we needed from a juggernaut. We had to take it down in hand to hand, so Owen, Vince, and Sasquatch went after it. Owen didn't see it throw it's hand out at him and it ripped him apart. Then, Sasquatch went missing after we returned to base. Come to find out he was setting a tactical nuke to blow up the city! I convinced him to wait till we were ready to leave. We also had to rescue Vienna Cho, the radio operator, after the mission to get the samples, and she ended up helping me disarm the nuke, without Sasquatch knowing of course. As fucked as this city is, there are still survivors out there. Speaking of which, we lost a soldier named Jeremy as well, but we rescued four others. Steven Kelly, Kaden Winsor, Rob Yount, and Matthew Washington. We have Rob as one of our new squad gunnera, along with Alicia who is using Owen's gun, both using the M60. We also rescued a few survivors, but we also lost a few. We had two sieges today, and they were both close calls. Also, on that note, we have a surprise for you from here at Black Friday! We have video from our first siege at approximately 1800 today. Shows us losing one refugee, but it gives you the idea of what we go through each time the undead attack us. youtu.be/G9FWq9xtQO0So now we are still searching for survivors, but command has given us the okay to pull out due to no more high value assets being in the city. So now we are trying to last as long as we can and get out as many civilians as we can. That's it for today though. Might run a few night ops later. Mission report end time at 9:00 pm local time.

As of 0130 hours, monday, April the 13th, the situation has become worse. Almost all of the areas that were clear, are now being over runned. We have called for an evac bird, for all of us, but it's getting to the point the civilians can not get to us, nor us them. Highroad has to keep sending us ammo every few hours, just so we can keep the defenses alone up.
At this point, I am not sure any of Greyhound is going to make it. Command says the next chopper is ours, and we have one civilian with us. I wonder if Vienna Cho is going to make good on her promise, and stay behind. We are leaving out base facilities up, just in case we either return with more troops, or in case we don't and someone needs a safe haven.
At this point, everyone is on edge. We all wondering, what is next after we leave here? Where will we go? Who is left to go to?
Report end time, 2:00 am local time.

Well, this is it. We can hear them coming towards the base. We'be gotten on the radio and told Highroad to send that helicopter now if they are going to. Everyone is loading up on ammo, even the civilians. We have set up every mine and trap we could, and now it's just a matter of time. I hope we all make it out...

--"Highroad to Black Friday, hand on, we have choppers en route to you now, over."

Well, this is going to be my final journal entry. Highroad sent in some serious CAS to cover our escape. I'm starting to regret not letting Sasquatch blow the nuke, but at least who ever is left alive in the city will have a chance. We made it out without any more casualties, and are now en route to the capital. Hopefully we might be able to turn this around some day. This is the end though for Greyhound's part in Danforth.
Mission end on 4/13/2015 at 2:30 am local time.
So what did you guys think?

Not bad. A good record of the events that occurred in your playthrough of the game. I did cringe at the "over and out" part of your "intercepted transmission." That phrase is extremely redundant and no one would ever say it aloud. If it was the end of the sentence, it would be "over". If it was the end of the conversation entirely, it would be "out."
Lol. Sorry. Can't help myself sometimes. Anyway, great journal and I found it fun to read. I really want to play this game now lol.

How did it freak you out davis? The fact a man's voice was heard while a female character was fighting or the fact it was my voice? Lol.
