Personality Profile:
When in public, Vlad is typically people friendly. He will smile sometimes and even talks softly and gently. He isn’t outgoing, as he prefers people that want to speak to him to come to him. He has a lot of friends but they tend to be nothing more than a passing wave or a kind word. He actually has no idea on how friendship is supposed to feel as he was shoved from one lifestyle to the next without much warning. He smiles at the opportunity to meet new people and sometimes even has a small gleam in his blue eyes when at a party of some sort. He does enjoy the company of others, but he likes to remain secluded from a group when he is out.
His true friends and squadmates won’t find a more loyal and trust worthy friend. He is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure their survival, even if it means giving up his own. His closest friends even get a small peak into his real personal feelings, but no one has gotten that close to him yet. Vlad isn't Religious in the sense that most men should be. He prays before every meal and when he goes to bed at night, but he just prays to whatever God or Gods might be listening. He isn't Agnostic, but is somewhat questioning of Religion due to the Evil he has seen.
All you have to do is not piss him off and you'll be golden. He’d beat a Covenant to death with his bare hands if he is angry enough, but because of his training he’s learned to control it sometimes, yet it also makes him more lethal. He hasn’t been the same since Kholo, his first deployment literally weeks after finishing training. He often talks to himself and only mumbles a few words here and there around strangers. He isn’t quick to anger but he is slow to recover.
If you plan on taking someone from him, you better be ready for a fight. On Kholo he and his squad ripped apart a village looking for POWs, some civilians the Covenant had taken. Vlad expects no quarter in battle, yet he does show it to those whom he believes fight for Honourable reasons. He is willing to give his life for a cause he deems Noble without pause. If he has to stand alone against an army so that women and children can be rescued, then he'll not only stand alone, but he'll charge them head-on. He isn’t one to shy away when the blood begins running. He strategically uses his shield and sword to find weaknesses in his enemy so that he can deliver a final blow thus sending them to their Judgment before God.
Physical Description:
The expression most common slapped on his face is a blank stare that seems to penetrate the fabric of time itself as his life can be seen within his eyes. Those dark hazel eyes tell his tale as they pierce the area around him. They are covered by thick eyebrows that are always furrowed in a permanent matching of the heavy lips that make up his slight frown. The oval shape of his head gives his expression and hair a full come together.
His scar on his right forehead that stretches down to his cheek vertically and the three large scars on the left side of his face influence the dark view that he sees through his eyes. They all fade up into his short cut hair that is a dark black color. He first looks intimidating from a distance but up close much less scary when viewed.
He isn't flabby as the Marines don't give you the time to even sit long enough to wipe. He takes care of his armor. But he refuses to get rid of the scars that are on there as they remind him of his duty. His body itself isn't that bad, his skin is somewhat tanned from the constant exposure to the sun, but he is still Caucasian without a doubt. Muscles do show from his training, and with those muscles came scars and plenty of them. While the most prominent is the one located on the right side of his face, several lengthy scars snake their ways on his arms and body. His entire right leg is scarred up from an explosion on a mission that did go sideways.
Besides the scars and muscles, tattoos are not a rarity on his body. He has every rank he received during his career tattooed on his right chest from top to bottom in chronological order. From his time as a gang member on Earth before being drafted, he has a Red Hammer tattooed on his left chest. Then he has the usual soldier tattoos, a few daggers, and some various old war sayings in Latin and Russian. Just general tattoos that aren't that important to actually describe. However the one major tattoo he looks at daily is over his heart. It is the UNSC symbol along with two crossed shotguns beneath it with the words "This We'll Defend" beneath it.
Background Information:
The usual typical Earthborn bastard kid, born in a slum outside of Moscow and then left at an orphanage by his parents. Or maybe it was just one of his parents, he never cared to find out which it was. They didn't want him so he didn't want them. He took the last name of the caretaker that brought him in and processed him for the Russian orphanage. He stayed only long enough to be able to walk. Once he was seven, he escaped and was almost immediately inducted into the Bleeding Smiths. They were a gang of orphans that had members spread across the entire world. They were mainly smugglers, hackers, and hitters. Vlad fit the latter as he was more of a muscle person as opposed to sneaky. He quickly learned many different fighting styles as he grew within the gang.
However his life took a dramatic turn when he 15. He was arrested while in an organized street fight, he was taken from the streets by an armed group of soldiers and was transported to one of the many juvenile detention centers. It was there, on his 16th birthday, that he was given a choice by the judge, join the UNSC Marines or get sent to a penal colony past the outer rim. He decided to be drafted thinking he could do much better in the military, and he planned to go AWOL first chance and go back to his streets. Yet during his training, he learned what he would be missing out on if he left, so he decided to stay. He knew he had the option of a somewhat comfortable time during his training by being middle of the pack, but he turned it all down. He wanted to be treated harsher and trained harder than the others. His instructors did so and whenever they started to let up, Vlad would make them push him even harder than before.
He was well versed in CQB and breaching-clearing ops with the highest scores in his class for pistols, shotguns, and hand-to-hand combat. By the time he was finished with his training and was sent to reinforce Kholo. He had heard of the attacks by the Covenant on the various planets and he was like alot of other boys his age. He wanted to join the Alliance and give those bastards some pay back. He was there a week before the first ships arrived. At first they were held back by the AA’s but that comfort lasted only a day before they began their runs. Another week and the cities were either burning or burned down. He had moved from the largest metropolitan city to a fallout bunker that was created incase the Covenant decided to glass the planet.
At first he was glad to finally see real combat. The Covenant had sent their grunts at first, just waves of them that were gunned down without much trouble. And he was in a couple of units that were sent behind enemy lines to sabotage and kill them. Then he was called upon to report to the front lines and he was thrown a shotgun that was taken from the grip of a dead marine. Before he could be briefed, an ungodly roar erupted infront of him. The covenant had sent more than just grunts to attack the bunker. He used his MA5 as much as he could, but they were already low on ammo and this was just burning it as they were slowly getting swarmed. Often times Vlad had to use his K-Bar to dispatch enemies that were getting too close. Some gunships were able to reinforce them and Vlad hopped on one with part of his unit to help out another bunker that had come under fire. He arrived in time to witness a dozen hunters descend onto the bunker and make their way into it without any trouble. Then an emergency signal came over the comms to order a retreat. The gunships picked up what stragglers they could and left the atmosphere. They landed within a UNSC cruiser on the opposite side of the world, the lat image of Kholo that Vlad remembers is seeing the Covenant ship begin glassing the planet. By the time the dust had settled and the shock had worn off, there were hundreds either dead or dying on the ship, with even more missing in action.
Vlad took a two week leave and went to New Alexandria. There he met up with some old gang members who had also been “convinced” to enlist. They spent some time swapping stories and Vlad met some of the newest members to the crew. After his quick trip there, he returned to the ship he was now stationed on, the UNSC Leviathan, and spent his time on the ship deploying to rescue civilians and reinforce positions against Covenant forces that were attacking the various agriculture colonies and small military outposts. He stayed with this unit for three years until he was reassigned to the UNSC Vengeance with Oscar Company. He has only just arrived on his new ship and hasn’t met many of his fellow marines yet.
