Hiya, folks.
I want to take a moment to discuss some things that I've been thinking about, or plan on, implementing to our lovely corner of the Interwebz. This announcement will serve to announce those plans and ideas, and give you guys (the life blood of the site) the chance to discuss them with me and make suggestions for new additions to the site as well.
So, the first order of business will be something I've wanted to implement for awhile, but haven't really decided how to do so.
Site Awards.
Site awards are awards given to our members for IC and OOCly stuff that you people accomplish. The basic few I have at the moment are:
Member of the Month. This will be given to the members of our site who are exceptional at both being active when they need to and helping out in the OOC aspects of the site (such as helping and greeting new people, making suggestions for improvement to the site or offering help to the Staff. The Staff are, of course, excluded from receiving this award. It is awarded to non-Staff only.
Character of the Month. This award is given to members who role-play their character phenomenally over the span of a month. This includes interactions with other characters, actions, and post sizes. Players can be nominated and their characters voted upon which the Staff will not be able to partake in. High Staff characters cannot be given this award, but Minor Staff member's characters are eligible and also may vote on the COTM.
Newbie Helper. Players that show kindness and respect to new members, and offer them assistance when needed are eligible for the Newbie Helper award. A total of TWO non-Staff members can receive this award in a month's timeframe. So, if you're the kind of person who likes to help out the new blood, you may find yourself receiving this award.
Post of the Month. Every month, we will scour the RP for posts that stand above and beyond the normal ones players write. Post of the month will largely be based on the content and size of the post. A post from a non-Staff member (excluding Minor Staff) that is exceptional and goes above and beyond our expectations is likely to cause the poster to receive this award. This award can only be awarded once a month, and once a player has received it twice, they cannot be nominated for this award for a period of six months. This gives other people a chance to be noticed for the amount of love and work they put into their posts.
Those are the basic awards I've come up with. Feel free to discuss them and make suggestions regarding them, and don't be afraid to come up with ideas for new awards on your own and post them here. We'd love to hear your ideas.
Next on the list, something I promised awhile ago: an Non-Canon RP section. Yep. The non-canon RP section will allow players to create RPs that would not belong anywhere else on the site, and they don't have to be related to Halo. It'll also cater to the heavily requested Character Stories idea. There will be a sub-board for players to write short stories, novellas, or full blown fan fics based on their characters. They can follow the Canon of your character's already established, or delve into different territory. So, if you got that writing bug, and you want to tell your character's story in more ways than in an RP post, soon you will have a chance.

Credit system (money).
I have been debating adding a money system into the RP for the purposes of the IC area. Essentially, every IC post you make awards you a certain amount of credits (money) that you can use to buy things for your character ICly. I haven't put much thought into it yet, and I am open to suggestions so that our site currency system is unique and the best it can be.
Those are the things I've planned to have implemented to the site throughout the course of the summer. Let me know what you think, and don't be afraid to submit your ideas for things you'd like to see on the site.
