Halo 2 was a great game.
I have my qualms with it, but it was still a great game. One of the best to have been developed on the original Xbox. I spent hours upon hours of time, sitting in front of my TV talking smack over Xbox LIVE, playing it in my early adolescence. The graphics at the time were by far the best of any Xbox game I had played, and the engine was superb.
So, I've been asking for awhile whether or not 343 Industries was going to do an anniversary edition for it like they had the original Halo. Just a few hours ago, I discovered they are! Halo 2 Anniversary Edition is slated for release in November, the same month that it released in its original form ten years ago.
Ten years. God, has it been a long time.
There will be vast improvements graphically, as well as improvements to the game's soundtrack and audio, which are being remastered. The multiplayer will see improvements, including online co-op for the campaign and five reimagined Halo 22 maps. And, of course, Forge Mode.
I saw the renders for the cut scenes, and honestly, the visuals are absolutely breathtaking. You can hardly tell that the characters arereal. They look so lifelike now.
I am excited and cannot wait for this to come out. I'm practically salivating at the mouth for it.
Halo 2 Anniversary releases November 11th in the U.S. and November 16th for the rest of the world. It will be available on the Xbox One.
I know what I'm getting for Christmas lol.

Dear GAWD, I can't believe it's not butt err... I mean I can't believe it's been ten years (and well over ten years since that ad slogan too ) Halo was the best for talking smack - being able to hear the enemy through your tv speakers within a certain proximity. How could it possibly get any more enticing than that?

I know! Lol. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of that particular feature in the later Halo games. I loved it. Plus, the little radio squelch tone when you hit the button to communicate with your team members across the map was a pretty nice touch.
But, alas, too many people complained. Apparently hitting a button to talk to people outside your immediate vicinity is too much work for the player. I never had a problem with it.

Yeah, bunch of lazy bums - they just want to sit around all day playing video games without having to do too much work 9.9
Halo 3 Valhalla in the temples at each side of the map were the absolute best for giving people shit through their speakers. It was beyond easy to sneak in the basement - crouched so they wouldn't see you on radar. Then just sit down there with a shotgun and verbally abuse them while they're upstairs. Then when they realize that you're downstairs they hop down and run around the corner. Then jump up and yell my personal favorite phrase "ASSUME THE POSITION!" Then follow up with a shotgun blast + buttstock to the face. That is definitely in my top five favorite things to do on a video game EVER.

The above statement is full of win. Haha.
I use to destroy people on Valhalla / Blood Gulch / Coagulation. I remember on Halo 2 I would host something called "Daily War" on Coagulation. It was a game of multi-team slayer, capture the flag, whatever. I told my friends to invite their friends and we'd have a full sixteen player match going on with Banshees, tanks, Warthogs, and everything going on. People running around on foot killing of in vehicles. It was SO fun.
I got Killtaculars and Un-Freakin' Believables all the time. Especially when I was in a tank. I was unstoppable in the Scorpion. Haha.
