I have only ever played the first one. I am terrible with a controller, so I don't own a console. I am, however, impressed with story and gameplay of the Original Halo. It was groundbreaking and I always am glad to speak highly of it. I know many people that bought X-Boxes soley to play Halo.

Halo 2 was my favorite. Halo: CE and Halo 3 come in a close third, and Halo 3: ODST coming fourth. Halo: Reach is fifth, Halo 4 sixth, and Halo Wars last.
Halo Wars could have been so much better, and I was highly disappointed at the job Ensemble did on that game. But, the events that transpired in its campaign are to be considered canon, and canon they are.
Halo 4... just didn't feel like Halo to me. There were a lot of things I liked, but also a lot of things I despise about it. Namely the soundtrack. The soundtrack lacked the heart and soul the other Halo OSTs had. Even Halo Wars had an awesome soundtrack.
I haven't played SPARTAN Assault, so I have no opinion on it. Though I did listen to some of its OST, and the music was pretty damn good.

Agreed with Halo 4. 343 just hasn't been nearly as good at making Halo games as Bungie was, IMO.
The original trilogy soundtrack is definitely one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a game. I would have to say that it's tied with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed that Halo 5 (God, that puts a bad taste in my mouth) will be much better. I mean, I can understand how hard it must be to take the reigns from another company and try to make a start to a new trilogy in the same universe when you have something as beloved and awesome as the original Halo's to contend with. So, I will see how things go with baited breath for the new Halo.
And I personally feel that nothing tops the original trilogy's soundtrack, nor is close to being on par with it. That isn't to say I don't enjoy other game soundtracks. Oblivion and Skyrim had pretty kickass soundtracks, in my opinion.
And I love the new Medal of Honor soundtracks. Ramon Djawadi is one of my favorite composers. He's up there with John Williams and Hans Zimmer as far as my list goes.

lol I'm a little biased as far as the Oblivion soundtrack. It's quite possibly my favorite 360 game, or atleast tied with MW2 and Halo 3. The opening scene is just epic.The Skyrim soundtrack - as well as the game - aren't as good.

Meh. To each their own, I suppose. I loved Skyrim personally and played the hell out of it. Though, I hated any encounter involving a dragon. Those guys were assholes lol.
And according to my friend I am a "traitor to all Nords." I played a Nord character and sided with the Imperials, not the Stormcloaks. Mainly out of preference (and because the Imperial general's voice actor is the same guy who played Captain/Commander Bailey from Mass Effect).
Anywho. Halo 2 FTW. Haha.
Although the teaser trailer for Halo 3 was EPIC. And the music in said trailer haha.

I really want an Xbox One just so that I can relive my glory days of Halo 2 via the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition. The cutscenes by Blur are phenomenal and the remastered soundtrack? Well, if the below video does not absolutely get your blood pumping, or the other sneak peaks into the remastered soundtrack uploaded by that person, then I don't know what will. Second Prelude sounds fucking awesome. But that? That takes the cake.  |
