Do you recall the News Feed that used to be at the top of our site? Well, last night I had an interesting idea on how to utilize it for the purposes of the RPG. I want your thoughts on it before I end up spending the time it would take to implement such an idea.
I think it would be pretty cool to use the news feed to display in-game news of events happening across the universe. For instance, since obviously we won't be a part of every event that occurs within a year in the Halo timeline, we could hear news report displayed in our news feed.
For instance, it would display news from the Colonial News Network. The news would range from major events in the war to smaller things such as new technology being released to the public.
To give you an idea, here's what it would look like: CNN Report: The Governor of Emerald Cove orders a full-scale planet-wide evacuation in response to recent reports of Covenant activity increasing in the neighboring systems. UNSC officials claim it will take at least a couple weeks to fully evacuate the colony.
Business News: A high ranking executive with Traxus Corporation steps down after allegations of business fraud leak to the press. Police refuse to comment on the ongoing investigation.
Stuff like that. I think it would add more depth to the RP and keep us connected with the greater Halo Universe. You can also use the reports in your IC posts, perhaps saying your character saw them on the holovision when standing in line at the chow hall and the like.
In the end, the decision is yours.
