Jack can be described with many adjectives but some of the most important ones are Funny, Loyal, Brave. He's the kind of guy you want with you in a firefight, not the overly confident action movie type but someone who will go above and beyond for the people fighting to the left and right of him. Like many Marines he went into the Corps highly motivated but after a few years and more than a few NJPs he developed what's known as "The Terminal Lance" mentality which is what happens when all the joy of your life is seemingly sucked away by the Corps and all you do is skate all day on every day tasks but even though these guys may continuously shirk every day duties and dump them on to lower ranked Marines, Boots especially, they are the epitome of the ideals of the Corps in a firefight.
Jack loves drinking, fighting, women and swearing but not always in that order. If you hear a joke, witty retort being shouted at the enemy during a firefight or a sexual innuendo chances are he's the one that said it. He's always the kind of person who will get you to laugh by saying something even if you are in a bad mood or trying to be serious, just a quirk of his.
Physical Description:
Jack isn't huge but the muscle he does have was gained from years of hard work even before he joined the Corps, his family has been farmers going back generations and running the farm every day is very demanding work. To earn extra money for his family he would compete in amateur fights around his local area, he didn't win all the time but he won more than he lost. Jack presently has five tattoos, covering his whole back he has the Japanese word for "bad" and he has the Irish flag on his right bicep. On his left arm he has a UNSCMC tattoo and a skull and finally on his chest just over his heart he has another skull. He had a full head of red hair when he was younger but after Boot camp he decided to continue keeping his head shaved.
Background Information:
Born in 2517 in New Dublin Jack was the oldest child in his immediate family however his Mother was the youngest of seven children so he has several aunts, uncles and cousins and they are all very close. Like everyone else in his family Jack was born and raised on a farm, it was the family business as it were and some of his earliest memories were of riding around in the tractor and helping his father around with the sheep and hunting in the nearby woods, learning how to shoot at an early age. While he was still enrolled in school he would sometimes box and fight with the other boys in the town for extra money, generally speaking it was frowned upon by his family but as long as he never hurt himself too badly then they turned a blind eye. When he made it to high school he went to his father and told him of his desire to join the military and even though his parents were proud of him and agreed they had but one condition, that he finish school first. Feeling that was a fair price to pay he consented to wait until he graduated on his 18th birthday and enlisted the next day.
Boot camp was one hell of an experience, just like it was for everyone else but fortunately he fell into that category of recruits that never got into trouble or really distinguished themselves in any way...except for the rifle range. Once they started training on the range his affinity for shooting really came out, he was one of the very few recruits that scored expert with the rifle and this of course gave him some small fraction of status among the other recruits but the Drill Instructors obviously began to pay more "Special" attention to him at that point. After Boot Camp came three months of Infantry training where he learned the ins and outs of basic combat skills along with the rest of the Marines assigned to a combat MOS, he continued to score well with the rifle and when it came time for him to train with a pistol he did better than he thought he would but he was still only a sharpshooter with the sidearm.
Once he finished training and made it out to the fleet he saw combat with another unit in a few border skirmishes in the outer colonies, he saw some good friends die and he got his chance to kill some aliens before he recieved word that he was being transferred to Oscar Company 1/12 as part of the 27th MEU. He'd heard good things about the unit but they'd suffered more casualties than most others so he knew the Corps was just trying to fill the gaps by moving bodies around. He had put in a request for orders to attend Designated Marksman or Sniper Training but as of now he is still awaiting word and chances are it won't happen until his rotation with Oscar Company is done.
