Ethan isn’t a go-getter or a try hard in the strict senses but he has taken to his marine duties with some seriousness, though like all young marines a good prank is useful in relieving tension. His greatest fear is not being able to live up to the expectations of his family and the growing prowess of his twin sister Marissa. Who appears to have gotten better of the brains gene. Marissa is currently on a full scholarship completing an applied physics degree on Luna.
Ethan is certainly not stupid but defiantly struggles academically, having fallen behind on his reading until the third grade and struggles with non practical math problems.
Ethan felt he had few options open to him with his rather below average though not poor grades and civilian life wasn’t particularly appealing. His father had been a Marine prior to starting a family and with quite a few of his school friends getting drafted, he decided he would jump before he could be pushed and enlisted. Originally, he wanted to apply for mechanic or armorer, however his academic testing was just a touch too low to qualify. He settled on becoming a rifleman, gaining experience with weapons and weapon handling for now.
Not a fan of spicy foods, he also has a mild allergy to Pineapple so his dietary choices could be considered bland. He has a love for hockey and late-20th Century Rally.
Physical Description:
Ethan has his hair in the ever present quite short, high and tight. His face is innocent looking but that’s mostly due to his young age and lack of any clearly identifiable marks, besides a light scattering of freckles across his nose. He has slightly off size ears with his left ear being a little larger and angling a little further forward and out than his right.
He is on the taller side of average and a fairly average build, though Marine training has bulked him up a little from his school days, there is more power in his legs than his arms naturally
Background Information:
Ethan was born on Mars with a twin Sister, Marissa who was born first out of the twins. They also share another older sister Stephanie. Ethan’s Father was a fairly typical man. He worked a mid level position as a manager for Misrah Armoury after being discharged from the Marines, on Mars and his Mother was a school teacher.
Ethan’s relationship with his father has been strained since his teen years. While well intentioned by his Father, Jackson could be considered a little overbearing and trying to help a little too much, while frustrating Ethan was closest to his father.
His relationship with his Mother has largely been driven by comparisons to his twin sister, who was quite academically gifted, something both his sisters shared and his mother valued highly, this strained their relationship somewhat.
Though they competed hard for their parents affections, Marissa and Ethan could be considered quite good friends for siblings and twins.[/div]
Ethan schooling could be considered both eventful, particularly in his early years and lacklustre in the later years, with his difficulties in learning to read. However his father introduced him to history books which the pair used to improve his reading skills and bond over a growing and shared interest in history, naval history specifically.
His schooling was particularly non impressive. he scored a bit below average in math, dead average with reading and writing but he did fairly well with mechanics. There were some concerns that Ethan was a little but of a run, he was a little short for most of his life there was a surprise as almost on his 16th birthday a major growth spurt began that made him about an inch taller than his Father.
Upon completion of his schooling Ethan was not sure at all what he was going to do, he strongly considered taking up a trade as mechanic or machinist but with quite a number of his friends being drafted he decided to join up, the question was; what branch. The decision was made when his father suddenly became ill and died within a few months of being diagnosed. He was going to honour him by becoming a Marine. He originally wanted to try becoming a marine Mechanic then had the idea of becoming an armorer. He applied for these positions with his third choice being that of rifleman. Something that would end up becoming his reality given his lackluster academic performance.
However he came up with an idea. Get used to handling and taking care of weaponry and study in his time off so that he might be able to work on a transfer later on into that goal of his. Off to Training he went. Boot camp was a hard task for him, though he had always been reasonably active, the strain of Marine training both basic and school of Infantry was a notch above, but he rose to the occasion and passed all his training quite well. Earning a distinction for attention to weapon care and maintenance.
His first posting was rather monotonous, Garrison duty on Reach.
He didn’t have to wait too long before he got his chance however and with their redeployment was reassigned to Oscar Company for his first taste of combat.
