M247 General Purpose Machine Gun Weapon Overview: Range: Short-Long [2000 Meters] Accuracy: Moderate Power: High [.308 Caliber Rounds] Rate of Fire: Low [6 Rounds Per Second] Ammunition: Extremely High [200 Round Box Magazine] Description: The General Purpose Machine Gun, that was normally seen as a stationary gun emplacement, is usually placed near defensive positions surrounding bases and fortifications. It is capable of spewing out an incredible number of .308-cal rounds. It uses 7.62x51mm rounds. The M247 has two main variants: - Fixed -- This variant of the turret has a plate of armor to protect its operator from incoming fire, and is used as a defensive weapon by the UNSC. - Portable -- The second variant is a mobile version, in which the main gun is placed on a fold-able tripod or bipod for quick relocation and setup in the field. Though it lacks shielding (and possibly a slower rate of fire), it can be moved from location to location by a single Marine. User Notes: Its purpose in this case is akin more to a SAW than a machine gun, and can be used without the bipod, albeit being a bit unwieldy. That said, it's got a high capacity, and a very high range with fairly good accuracy at farther ranges. It could almost be considered an upgrade to an MA5B, but is not really. Overall, it's a great heavy weapon with a high damage output.
